Sam began her career as an editor when she served as an assistant editor for C. Milton Wright High School's literary magazine, The Stallion. From August 2006, until May 2007, Sam served as editor-in-chief of Towson University's award-winning literary magazine, Grub Street. The 2007 issue of Grub Street went on to win the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's Gold Crown Award. She studied English, at Towson University, and graduated with a Bachelor's in 2008.
